Installation of solar panels will turn three Toronto community centres into energy generators

Kiwi ProjectGUELPH, Ontario (November 19, 2012) – Utilizing a total of 1000 solar panels, the Newton Group, based in Guelph Ontario, is installing solar photovoltaic (PV) systems on three community centres in Toronto. It is expected that the three projects will have a combined output of 250kW AC power and installation will be completed within two months. Newton Group was awarded the contract by Toronto Hydro-Electric System Limited in their joint project with the City of Toronto. The systems are utilizing HELIENE photovoltaic modules mounted to KB Aerorack roof mounting systems which will be tied into KACO inverters.

Jay Boychuk, program manager at Newton Group said, “HELIENE modules were selected based on their rugged design, and longevity in the solar market.”

The expected output for the 300 solar panels on the Roding Community Centre is 75kW. 400 panels on the Grandravine Community Centre will produce 100kW and another 300 panels on the Goulding Community Centre will produce 75kW of power.

The Newton Group previously completed a 250kW AC installation for Toronto Hydro in 2011 at the Better Living Centre in Exhibition Place.
