Thornhill Community Centre
Carmanah Technologies (EPC Provider) for Powerstream Project
1167 – HELIENE 72M – 300Wp Modules
In 2011 Carmanah Technologies engineered, procured, and constructed a 350 kW rooftop photovoltaic (PV) system on the Thornhill Community Centre located in Markham, Ontario. PowerStream, a municipally-owned electricity distribution company, will lease the Thornhill Community Centre rooftop and sell the energy generated by the PV system to the Ontario Power Authority under the Feed-In Tariff (FIT) program. Once integrated, the new solar generating facility will produce revenue at a rate of $0.635 per kWh, or approximately $300,000 per year.
Since 2001, Carmanah has been Canada’s leader in grid-tied photovoltaics (PV) and has developed one of the most trusted names in the solar industry as an Engineering Procurement Construction (EPC) contractor. We specialize in professionally engineered solutions for commercial rooftop grid-tie solar PV systems that meet the requirements of Ontario’s Feed-in Tariff program (FIT). Our projects portfolio includes more than 55 grid-tied completed systems across Canada and nearly a third participate in Ontario’s Feed-In Tariff program.
